Tecomanthe speciosa (NZ Native)
A vigorous twining climber of tropical appearance native to New Zealand. The glossy, thick compound leaves consist of up to five leaflets. In autumn or early winter it bears long cream-coloured tubular flowers that emerge directly from the stem in large clusters. It was one of the world's most endangered plants until It was rescued by horticulturalists who took cuttings from the last original plant. However it is still currently listed as a Nationally Critical Species. It has glossy green leaves and long lasting cream flowers in winter and autumn. Sensitive to frost.
