Kohekohe is a medium-sized Native NZ tree with a trunk that can grow to a metre in diameter. It is found in lowland and coastal forests throughout most of the North Island and the top of the South Island. The pinnate leaves are large and glossy and the white kohekohe flowers are an important and favoured source of floral nectar for Tui and Bellbird. We collect the seed of this species to order and it is only available for a few weeks in late April early May each year.
