Kahikatea is the tallest growing Native New Zealand tree. This magnificent coniferous tree features handsome mature foliage, attractive buttressed roots and orange/red seed from February to April attracting birds. Naturally occurring throughout NZ in forests from sea level to 600m. Kahikatea are sometimes called dinosaur trees because they existed alongside the dinosaurs during the Jurassic period. They love fertile swampy ground which is why the best Kahikatea forests are found on the wet West Coast.

How to Grow
Recommended pre germination seed treatment:
This seed is perishable and cannot be dry stored. After collection & cleaning we place seed in cold moist storage and dispatch packed in moist sawdust. It should be sown on receipt.
